From Grime to Gleam: Pressure Washing Mother Frances Hospital for Ribbon Cutting

When other companies declined the work, we answered the call

Project Name: Mother Frances Hospital Exterior Refresh

Location: Tyler, Texas

Challenge for Uptown: Transform the grimy upper facade of Mother Frances Hospital into a gleaming backdrop for their new heart wing ribbon-cutting ceremony. And what was that existing grime? Black and green organic growth clinging stubbornly from the 3rd story rooftop to the 7th-story roofline.

Challenge For The Client: Mother Frances Hospital reached out to several contractors, all of who declined due to the difficult of the work and the logistical nightmare that such projects can present.

Our Response: “We can do it!” While it might have sounded crazy, we thrive on these complex exterior cleaning and pressure washing projects. After all, that’s what separates we at Uptown Window Cleaning from the “can’t-dos.”!

Mission (Impossibly) Accepted: After six hours of meticulous planning, 3 weeks of prepping and testing, we had a multi-page battle plan.

Innovation Takes the Stage: Enter our secret commercial pressure washing services weapon: a 40-foot mast lift wielding a 55-foot carbon fiber extension. This combination allowed us to apply our proprietary cleaning solution (soaps & sodium hypochlorite) across all four stories, reaching far beyond the lift’s limitations. Safety first, of course!

In The Words of Uptown Window Cleaning Owner, Jason Thomley:

Being told the story of not being able to find anyone bid on it much less to perform the work, I said emphatically yes! We can do it. Although that sounds absurd, even for me, I told him we specialize in doing what most can’t or won’t do; I (and our Uptown team!) will figure this out and will reach your expectations. After spending 6 hours onsite looking at the scope of work, the logistics, and writing several pages of notes I spent the next few weeks planning and preparing and testing my solutions for the job at hand.

There were several OSHA regulations that we had to be compliant with as well as safety protocols for an in-use hospital. The work consisted of bringing a 40’ mast lift through the hospital to an elevator specifically approved for the weight of lift; building a ramp to lower the lift onto the third story roof top where the cleaning was to take place. Typically we would look into repelling to clean these stories, but, being the roof was clay tiles and we couldn’t properly tie off or set up a scaffolding we had to improvise.

We used the 40’ mast with a 55’ carbon fiber pole to help apply the proprietary blend of soaps and sodium hypochlorite to the 4 Stories of the hospital. By attaching our hose and spray gun to the pole, extending it out 45-50’, we were able to reach out past the limitations of the mast lift, safely applying the soaps and cleaning agents to the wall for 2-3 applications.

After the product sat for the appropriate amount of time, we used a pump truck with a fireman hose and extended up 3 stories across the rooftop to rinse all the organics and cleaning agents, leaving the building in almost like new condition!

This project wasn’t just pressure washing – it was a testament to our “we-can-do-it” spirit and commitment to exceeding expectations.
